Create Vector Art From Photos

Create Vector Art From Photo: All the Tools to Vectorize in Adobe Illustrator

I am a professional graphic designer, and I don't draw.

I don't think I have ever shared the fact that I don't draw. Honestly, for the longest time that haunted me as a graphic design student and then professional.

I even had a professor that told me that I couldn't be a designer if I didn't learned to draw properly.

The truth is that to this day, I don't draw as many people think that "to draw" means. But what I am REALLY good at is vectorizing.

And that is exactly what I will teach you in my new Skillshare class!

In it I will teach you the skill to transform your photos or drawings into digital art in Adobe Illustrator.

Back in 2008 I took a humoristic drawing class that taught me the skill to turn a sketch into an illustration. Since then, I never looked back.

For the past 14 years I have worked with vectors in almost every single project I put my hands on. Whether if I am working with businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations; I always end up working with vectors.

Photo and Skech Vectorization

I can vectorize a photo to use it in a poster design or vectorize a simple sketch to use it in a book cover design. I even use this skill to vectorize some elements of a logo and use them to create a cohesive editorial design for magazines. The possibilities are endless.

Pen Tool, Pencil Tool, Paintbrush Tool and Blob Brush Tool

In this class you will learn how and when to use the :

  • Pen Tool

  • Pencil Tool

  • Paintbrush Tool

  • Blob Brush Tool

  • Image Trace

We will go step by step with downloadable resources.

In the resources section you will be able to download the same photos I will be using, a Pen Tool Practice Sheet, and PDF with the most common and useful shortcuts in Adobe Illustrator.

Skillshare Class Resources

The possibilities are endless.

With the skills that you will learn in this class you will be able to design whatever you want to whatever medium you need.

From minimal illustrations, to elaborated ones. You can vectorize an image as a gift or to create your own products.

By the end of this class, you will be able to vectorize anything you want and share your unique artistic voice in digital art.

PD. If you don't have a Skillshare account, in that same link, you can get a 1 month free trial as a new student.

See you there!
